Courtney, CHW, and Tracy, Clinic Manager, Talk WIN-Centering on JTV

We are excited to share that our very own Courtney Adair, Community Health Worker (CHW) and Tracy Van Buskirk, Clinic Manager, recently appeared on JTV in Jackson, Michigan to talk about the innovative prenatal care model offered by the Center for Family Health — the WIN-Centering program. What is WIN-Centering?

WIN-Centering (Women Inspired Neighborhoods) is our group prenatal-care model, rooted in the proven model of Centering Pregnancy, combined with home visits and community-health-worker support.

Prenatal care has traditionally been a one-on-one, clinical appointment experience. With WIN-Centering, a few key transformations happen:

  • Community and peer support: Expectant parents gather with others due around the same time, which helps reduce isolation and normalize the experience.

  • Extended engagement: Sessions are longer and include time for learning, sharing, self-monitoring, and provider interaction.

  • Holistic support: Recognizing that health isn’t just about the pregnancy check-up. Housing, transportation, food security, and mental health all matter. WIN-Centering offers resources in those areas too.

  • Continuity through postpartum: The care continues after birth with home visits, breastfeeding support, parenting resources. The prenatal period is just the start!
